The first tour of many...

The idea for a random city-wide mobile pop-up promo tour was just that...random. While making plans for a Spring brand Pop-Up Shop in Portland, our team at Portlander Ave. didn't want to wait until the Spring to engage with people around the city while passing out some FREE promotional product from our brand.

Growing up in Portland, a lot of our team would take long drives around the city, playing music and catching pictures of random people, places & things. As we drove back then, you could began to notice all of the cranes going up that would soon lead to the newly built landscape of the City of Roses that we see today. But our city was beautiful way before the massive re-build of the late 90's and early 2000's. So the nostalgia of just riding around exploring, was exciting us.

The Idea

So, we did what we normally do when we are in the Research & Development phase, which is put pen to paper and started thinking of the a "prelude" promotional event that could be totally random, fun & secretive. We made a map of all the places we would target, all the goodies and giveaways we could provide and of course the clever way of how to let everyone know how to follow us during this day-long promo tour.

The execution

We loaded up the Portlander Ave. Promo van and HIT THE STREETS! Popping up everywhere from the Moda Center to Providence Park. From Hawthorne to Mississippi St. to Sellwood. Alberta, Fremont and Lombard, all the way to Ladds Addition, Mt. Tabor & Washington Park. Everywhere we went, we gave hints as to where you could find us next around the city. We came across so many happy people, thankful to receive free promo items from us. No strings attached, just flat our FREE STUFF! Because who doesn't like free stuff and...WHY NOT?

The Conclusion

We are so thankful for all of the amazing feedback, love & support we received all day long for our still new, but rapidly growing Portlander Ave. brand. It gave us so many amazingly creative ideas for our Spring Pop Up Shop as well.

One thing is clear, the tour was a promotional success when it came to the overall branding of our company.
